CAMARILLO HAS HOMES, RANCH AND LAND REAL ESATE

Camarillo was named after Adolfo and Juan Camarillo, prominent landowners, horse breeders and philanthropists in the late 19th and early 20th century. At one point, most of Camarillo was owned by the brothers, first as Rancho Calleguas and soon as Camarillo Ranch. After the death of their mother, Martina Camarillo, Juan and Adolfo inherited Rancho Calleguas. They developed the land, growing from mainly cattle to a cattle and crop ranch. The two brothers developed a subset of the Arabian horse breed called the Camarillo White Horse, which officially began in 1921 and continues today.
